I have read alot of posts on this but dont quite understand. My brother, a friend and i want to start a LAN tournament, and we want to be able to play against bots, weapon unlocks, the whole 9 yards. from my understanding we need online accounts to get the weapon unlocks right? So my question is, what do i need to do to be ble to have them connect up to my database using there BFHQ? I know that my database is saved in my local network (127.0.0.1) and i know that unless they redirect there bf2web.gamespy.com to some how connect up to my computer and access my database, that this will work. So i guess what i need to know is how to host my database so others can connect up to it and/or view it. Do i need a DNS or whatever that is called? Whatever i need to do can someone explain it to me, as i said i have read alot of posts on this but dont get the direct answer i seek.

Hey wilson,

yes thats right you need a internet connection and online accounts for use the BFHQ and all the weapon unlocks.
Your bf2 server needs a internet connection with a internet ip.
Your provider give you a static ip on everytime you login, thats the simple way (always your ip is the same) or you must change your dynmaic ip in a static name/ip with a dns service.
Then you can give your friends the ip and they can connect/join your server. When you have a router/firewall, open the right ports for bf2 and gamespy! Let the router/server access with a gateway entry. You can find many help to config your router with hosting a bf2 server -> use google

Thats all

Regards AL

Hey Al

So if i choose the easy way, getting a static IP, then in seversettings.con...I put internet = 1 and the Ip is my static Ip correct? Does my brother re-Route bf2web.gamespy.com in HOSTS file to my static IP? I pretty much know how to host the server but It would be cool if they could use the bfhq as well as me.
