Can anyone tell me of a personal router they are using that will run a dedicated server. My Netgear WGR614V5 WON'T!!!!! My server will show on the boards but no one can access it!

My modem/router combo sucks as well :P Check your port forwarding, that's the most likely area at fault. Or try DMZ mode (forwards all ports) temporarily, to see if port forwarding is indeed the problem. Good luck getting it working

Yeah but a router shouldn't need specific support for certain games... Although some routers are just plain crappy/faulty. Did you try checking for a firmware update for your router?

Excuse me asking somewhat obvious questions, but sometimes things are overlooked.

If it doesn't work even with DMZ mode enabled, perhaps there's something wrong with the BF2 server config? Like, make sure your BF2 "ServerIP" and "InterfaceIP" are set correctly (they need to be the same IP), which will most likely be your local 192.168.x.y IP.

If your router was to blame, I would think it would cause problems even with local connections (but who knows). Also, perhaps your ISP is blocking UDP traffic?

I had the same model router you have, I was not impressed at all. My isp uses adsl dual link routers/modem and would not tell me how to setup thier modem so that it would not act as a router. Needless to say after several days of fighting an IP address conflict between the router and modem, I chucked it in favor of a Linksys model BEF-sr41, all is well now. You should consider the Linksys brand so far I have had good luck with them.

server ip /interface ip is the detected setting.....I use road runner...I will have to check on the UDP stuff. But I doubt it because I can serve other games like SC Pandora's Tomorrow
